Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, March 20, 2020
Today’s Text: Psalm 46:1-1
Key Verse: Psalm 46:1 (KJV): ”God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
O how refreshing it is to have this testimony that regardless of our troubled time—whether we are in danger from visible or invisible forces; or we have a warfare to face; a sufferings to endure; a burden to bear, or pestilence to escape—there is a God to whom we may flee, and be safe.
When Hutson Taylor was sailing to China to begin his missionary work, the wind died in his ship leaving them in great danger. The current was carrying them toward sunken reefs of cannibals—so close they could see them building fires on the shore. The Captain cracked: “We have done everything that can be done and failed.”
“No!” Hudson replied. “There is one thing we have not done yet: Let us each prayer the Lord to send us immediately a breeze.” A wind arose that same moment and sailed them to the shore of China. Both our pain and prayers touch the heart of our loving Father and He always sends His winds. He did for the sons of Korah. He did for Hudson. He will do it for us.
Quote for the Day: "From the redemption from Egypt to the parting of the Sea, to calming of raging storms, to the ultimate victory on the cross; believers in Christ have full solace in Him.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, send your Holy Spirit, your peace, and confidence in our trying moment, and above all, send your breeze to blow away all faces of evil, in Jesus Christ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
