Why Should You Be Worse?!

Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, May 5 2020
Today’s Text: 1 Timothy 5:1-16
Key Verse: 1 Timothy 5:8 (ESV): “But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

In a world full of broken dreams and promises, where widening circles of believers and doctrines are rapidly causing men and women to become more conscious of their individuality, and people are thinking that Christian hopes and promises could be attained or won by mere profession of faith — the logical conclusion is sadly an abandonment of family ties, responsibility and accountability.
Therefore, the warning in this text becomes a matter of necessity. Apostle Paul wants believers to know that loving consideration for others in the household of faith l, and practical provision for one’s household is an important evidence to our faith. If unbelievers take care of their relations and friends; why should Christians leave their own to languish in penury and poverty. Why should you be worse when you’re actually called to a better life?!
Quote for the Day: "Negligence of kind duties and responsibilities reveals a fundamental denial of genuine faith or absence of it.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, give me a sense of duty, a spirit if stewardship over the things and people you have committed into my hands, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
