Today’s Text: Psalm 144:1-15

Key Verse: Psalm 144:1 (NLT): “Praise the LORD, who is my rock. He trains my hands for war and gives my fingers skill for battle.”

Among all the evidences that give credence to David's authorship of this Psalm is the indisputable signature of his habitual acknowledging that his life owes so much to God. When today’s men and women are successful, they let the thoughts or feelings of self-respect and personal worth or satisfaction with their achievements get into their skulls. They allow themselves to be led into bragging, and then into pride and excessive self reference. This is not the case with David — and we can learn from him. He always arrogate every success to God, and offers praise and testimony to the goodness of the Lord for everything.

We all always have perpetual need for strength. We always surrounded by fierce and difficult foes. But we must always acknowledge our sure source of strength. To David, God is our source of strength. Perhaps, that’s why he never lost any battle. He definitely knew the value and power of acknowledging God as a strategy for victory. Therefore, he availed himself of that power again and again. And for us as well, we need to learn this amazing secret of God’s favor — acknowledging Him. We must realize that bragging about one's qualities and achievements s not even necessarily a sign of confidence and self-belief; but, as psychologists reveal, it is often a sign of two complexes — insecurity and self-doubt. Let us learn to give God thanks for what He has done for us; praise Him for who He is; and acknowledge Him for being always true.

Quote for the Day: “The more we give God praise, the more He gives us a raise.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer:  Dear Lord, I acknowledge you as my creator and Lord. I worship and honor you with my life. I am so grateful for your love and help that you extend to me each day and for your mercies that are new every morning — in Jesus’ name. Amen.

With all my Love and Prayers,
