Today’s Text: Acts 26:24-32

Key Verse: Acts 26:28 (KJV) — “Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

I have seen so many people getting so close to the break of their life. But it's so clear that getting so close never avails a thing to people. Sometimes, we all tell people “I almost called you,” or “almost got the answer,” or “almost won the game,” etc., but the truth is: “almost” never gets anything done! In the faraway journey of a lost sinner, I'm almost back home to God can never get him to enter the kingdom of God. There are a lot of people who come so far, who get very close to the kingdom. Some of them are committed church members, workers and leaders in religious spheres. Some are children of notable ministers. And some are moralists who would ever hurt a fly. Others, having heard the word of truth or watched a believer shine as light, are almost persuaded to be Christians. However, it avails nothing before God to go only thus far. When the Herodians and Pharisees asked Jesus questions about taxes, and His answer had silenced them; one of them who came up with wise and sincere quest was told: “You are not far from Kingdom.” Following today's account of Dr. Luke reveals how close King Agrippa was to making a decision for Christ.

There are many in our homes, businesses, and churches, or many reading this devotional today, who are having a form of godliness: they would never take the name of the Lord in vain; never do anything which the gospel forbids; no vile thing or foul words will ever be on their lips, and their wards are either yea or nay. They have all sort of virtues that the world system notes them as moralists. They walk in the righteousness of the Pharisees. But unfortunately, they fail to bear the required godly fruit of repentance. They are like Agrippa. Being strongly convicted and almost persuaded to be a Christian is even worse than never being aware of the gospel truth. Agrippa because of the feelings of the Jews stopped himself at the gate of grace. Do not because of lust for sinful desires, delay your opportunity. Never allow yourself to be deceived that you can always find another opportunity to turn from your sins later in life. You may be in your very last moment of choice. There is always only one convenient time to repent and receive Christ as Savior and Lord. It is now! Quit the almost persuaded syndrome. “To those who received Him, gave He power to become the sons of God. even to them that believe on His name." (John 1:12) "He that believeth in the Son hath everlasting life; and cometh not into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life." (John 5:24) And "this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." (1John 5:4) “I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2)

Quote for the Day: ”If knowledge saves, heaven will be the automatic choice of philosophers and scholars, who know so much but only get thus far to, or further from, the kingdom.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: O Lord, please rescue me from vain religion that gets me only close to the kingdom. Purge me of vain righteousness of the Pharisees, in Jesus name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
