An Uncommon Mark of Revival

Daily Scripture Threshing for Wednesday, May 3, 2023

Today’s Text: Psalm 110:1-7

Key Verses: Psalm 110:3 (ESV): “Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments; from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours."

We have asked for revival, prayed for power and manifestations of the miraculous; and indeed, have experienced God’s mighty outburst of grace upon us and our ministries. But the surest mark of revival by which God comes to any people or generation in/with mighty power is actually in people’s offering of their lives for His service. Unfortunately, we have people who come thirsting for God’s manifest power; but lack those willing to serve His redemptive purpose.

By today’s scriptural truth, what we may deduce from such spiritual inertia is that we are yet to experience true and genuine spiritual revival. That is why we still beg and plead for gospellers and volunteers. When God’s revival fire truly goes deeper than people’s skin to the very core of their hearts, we will never have a shortage of resources—no, not of volunteers for His work! The greatest proof of God’s manifestation in a Christian’s life is dedication, devotion and service—not healing, deliverance and blessings. We invert the evidence because we have lost track of God‘s heartbeat and priority.

Jesus came to earth, first, to restore us to the lost relationship with Him; and then to become His agent of restoring the world.

It is high time we seek genuine freedom from natural self-centeredness and offer ourselves willingly for God’s purpose on earth. We don’t actually need to pray for God’s power. It is already in and with us; what we need are hearts that are responsive to Him, filled with love, and are willing to demonstrate that power through service.

Quote for the Day: “It is almost impossible for a man to experience God’s mighty power and presence and not yield in a humble “Here am I. Send me!” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, please forgive my selfish thirst. Help me to return to the place of true fellowship with You. Please stir my spirit to willingly and genuinely serve your purpose each passing moment of my life — in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.

Your Darling Bishop (DaBishop)
