Apart From Jesus, the Christ

Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, March 6, 2020

Today’s Text: John 15:1-8

Key Verses: John 15:5 (ESV): ”I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

There are so many thing we love to do in our lives as believers in Christ. Each Christian desires to be a precursor of revival. We love to place hands on the such and have them recover. The Church as a whole wants to raise the dead, and witness amazing signs and wonders. Yes these signs are our heritage and promises; but not when we have make ourselves so detached from the vine, and are eluded by genuine divine fellowship. No doubt, our Lord promises that we shall do greater works

than He did; but we are not even close to beginning to do anything at all.

Well, this text, presents us with clear reason we are shut behind all the things we love and are promised to do. Jesus never tells us we can do nothing apart from going to church, or mission field, or paying tithes, or giving alms—all these are imperatives and May are already doing these well. But He said apart from me, the Christ, the true Vine, your all in all, and your strength and source; you are false, fickle, fragile and fruitless. You can do nothing! — No desired and abiding results. No walking in the promised power and wisdom. Whenever we separate ourselves from Christ, we render ourselves poor and powerless.
