Scripture Threshing for Today, Tuesday, July 29, 2025
Today's Text: Luke 10:17-20
Key Verse: Luke 10:19 (ESV): "Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you."

Each day we live in opposition to formidable opponents. We are surrounded by real spiritual opposition. But the Bible reveals that we possess the power to overcome them. We've been given a special commission, an anointing to confront and conquer. This is the essence of what Jesus bestows upon His disciples, and all those who follow Him in Luke 10:19. He's sending us out not just to be His witnesses, but to wield tangible authority over the forces of darkness.
Jesus, in His wisdom and love, equips us as His followers for the spiritual battles we will face. He doesn't send us out unprepared, but rather with a profound assurance of our authority over evil. All of us who genuinely follow Him are called to exercise this authority. It is by so doing that we actively participate in the Kingdom of God and push back against the dominion of darkness in our age and generation.
Just as a strong shield protects a warrior, our faith and reliance on Christ's given authority protect us from the assaults of the enemy. Unfortunately, ignorance of this truth, doubt, and fear are robbing our generation of this blessing. Exercising authority over evil requires faith and a firm understanding of our identity in Christ. It requires striving to resist evil with boldness and confidence, just as Jesus taught us. If and when more Christians recognize and utilize their God-given authority, we shall begin to have more profound impact on others' lives and see greater breakthroughs.
Action Steps: Consciously acknowledge the authority you have in Christ over spiritual forces of evil. When faced with spiritual opposition, speak truth and resist the enemy in Jesus' name. Pray for protection and for the manifestation of God's power in situations where evil is at work. Actively engage in spiritual warfare through prayer and righteous living.
Quote for the Day: "Our faith and Christ's authority empowers us to overcome every spiritual foe." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible authority You have given us over all the power of the enemy. Help me to walk in this truth daily. Help me to resist evil and advance Your Kingdom each passing moment of my life. Strengthen my faith and give me boldness to confront darkness — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
