Today’s Text: 2 Kings 2:1-5
Key Verse: 2 Kings 2:3 (ESV): “And the sons of the prophets who were in Bethel came out to Elisha and said to him, “Do you know that today the Lord will take away your master from over you?” And he said, “Yes, I know it; keep quiet.””
It is naturally unlikely to hold one’s peace when you are under a situation that defile explanation. Sometimes, we wound our hearts to deep sorrows because we fail to learn what it takes to take the things we don’t have control over lightly; and look away from things that we don’t understand. The journey of Elisha with Elijah enshrouds a mystery that apprentice disciples could not unravel. Like them—rather than hold our peace, let God be God and let secret things remain with Him while things revealed remain with us forever—we worry over what God is doing or will do for/with other people. But can we all learn the discipline of holding our peace when we just don’t understand?! Our Lord, Jesus warned Peter to hold his peace and mind his business when he worried over the other disciple (John 21:22-23). As it was strange that God must take away Elisha’s master from over him, there are many unexplainable happenstances in this life. We will always face surprises that we don’t understand; but we must always learn to be still and let God be God.
Quote for the Day: “Holiness goes with godliness just calmness goes with strength.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me strength to go on when doing so is hard to do. Grant me the patience and strength to be still and wait on You when I lack understanding — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayers,
