Today’s Text: John 1:15-18
Key Verse: John 1:16 (ESV): “For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.”

We all have full familiarity with vessels. They are materials we interact with everyday. The Bible tells us about noble vessels and ignoble ones; but whichever one, today’s meditation is upon content and fullness. In the days of Christ, the idea of "fullness" points every listener or reader to vessels of water or wine. The beloved Apostle here imported the joy that a person feels when they hold a vessel brimful of wine, and applied it metaphorically to the joys that is ours in Christ.
In and through Christ, each of us is a brimful vessel of grace. We are a people of God’s grace through Jesus Christ, the source and giver of all graces. Our mark of interaction or contact with Christ is grace. We are attracted by it (grace), saved by it, and we receive grace upon grace each day to live pleasing unto God.
From His fullness, all Christ’s followers—which John refers to as “we”including himself, other apostles of Jesus, his original readers, and the rest of us who have put our trust in Christ through the preaching and teachings of the apostles, and those who also shall trust Him—have all received grace which continues to pour forth until all of us, Christ’s vessels, are filled up to the brim.
The point this morning is that as long as you are associated with Christ, you are not only full of grace, but you get showered with more and more grace each passing day and moment. You can blush over this truth: you are a brimful vessel of grace.
Quote for the Day: “We have a careful contrast of grace and the law. The law drains us in all our efforts, but His grace fills us with all His fullness.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for Your gift of grace, which we receive from Your bountiful goodness, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Please pour more grace on me this day so that I can respond to Your love by Your fullness in my life — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayers,
