Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, May 20, 2021
Today’s Text: Exodus 25:1-16
Key Verse: Exodus 25:10 (NIV) — “Have them make an ark of acacia wood—two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high."

When Moses receives the command to build an ark of acacia wood, the instructions were so clear about the description of the ark: its material, dimensions, content, storage and transportation. The tables of the law was not yet given at this time; but the ark, which would store it was already put first. And except all the instructions are being followed, and the ark is made ready according to all given pattern, Israel was not ready for the testament. Does this not speak to us that in order to receive a greater dimension of the covenant; we as well must prepare a living sanctuary for God, following God-given pattern?!
The ark was designed to be a symbol of the presence of God in the midst of His people. And our body is now the house in which God dwells. Therefore, as it was important to get every pattern right as it were; so it is for us today. And this is where we often miss it. We prefer to offer ourselves and services to God in our own ways and yet expect results in God’s way. We careless about His specifications for our ark, which is our body, the temple of the Lord, which is being foreshadowed by this old covenant. We know that the cross of Jesus Christ is our new and better acacia wood; and the blood that flowed from His alms and feet is even more golden than the gold covering within and without. The Manna was also placed in the ark as a reminder of God’s greater love and offering of His Son as the bread of life. Living with a conscious awareness of God’s presence must be the pattern of every believer’s life. This is a foreshadowed spiritual pattern for us to all walk in.
Quote for the Day: “Each believer is a living demonstration of the ark of the covenant. We image God’s presence and showcase His holiness." (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, help me to be conscious of your presence. Let my desire be to always be your ark of the new covenant, in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
