Daily Scripture Threshing for Wednesday, May 19, 2021
Today’s Text: Exodus 31: 1-11
Key Verse: Exodus 31:6 (BSB) — “Moreover, I have selected Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, as his assistant. I have also given skill to all the craftsmen, that they may fashion all that I have commanded you."
The Bible gives a clear description of the fact that the God we serve is the God of order, and He is not associated with disorder at all. The way to worship Him is definitely in an orderly pattern. Order and decorum were so crucial in the mind of God that, in the construction of the temple, He had to lavish grace upon certain men in a special way to construct the worship arena in a given and specific order. The giving of every detail and specific figures indicates that our worship atmosphere must always be after the prescriptions of God alone. It cannot be otherwise. And thus shall be the worship itself.
In the New Testament, when St. Paul observed that the Corinthian worship services were getting out of control, chaotic. Pattern was so amiss to the point that even unbelievers were finding their worship offensive. Therefore, he had to call them to the attention of the fact that “God is not a God of disorder but of peace” (1Cor 14:33) as part of an entire book written both to rebuke disorderliness and to outline proper conduct in the worship of God.
We have all been gifted severally to ensure all things perfectly compliment each other for a neat and logical organization of worship items, tasks, and people. But the question is: are we using our God-given graces to make sure that our worships are in order? The instruction was and still is today that anointing oil, and sweet incense for the holy place and all articles must be exactly according to the form and pattern that God had commanded. If you are so anointed or gifted that you have to be discordant with everything and everyone in the church, it is obvious that you are not building the body of Christ according to pattern.
Quote for the Day: “God’s people must learn order from the pattern in which God created the world in an orderly sequence so that the most complex heavenly bodies interact with precise in-contradiction." (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: O Lord, let order be established in my spiritual and earthly affairs. Let everything in me be in harmony with your glorious pattern for me, and for work, in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
