Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, March 17 2020
Today’s Text: Numbers 21:1-9
Key Verse: Numbers 21:9 (KJV): ”And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”
This text which we started looking at since yesterday challenges us to desist from putting the Lord to test and living ungrateful lifestyle. Ravenous and venomous virus has always been sent upon rebellious people. It is always unbecoming and undoing for people to revile and reject God. The point is clear: the cause of man’s pain in the world is his action or inaction—rejection of God‘s love and non embracing of His love.
Our generation would rather do everything to exclude God and be in control of our affairs when we are supposed to give God full control. But now that our flights are cancelled, and most of our plans have suddenly changed, not for the fear of God but a virus. Our vacations are cancelled, stores empty, schools closed, and lively streets ghostly, God is calling us to realize that “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”-Proverbs 19:21. And to cry to Him for help as did Israel.
Quote for the Day: "God’s Spirit does not always strive with man. He lets us come to an end of ourselves.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, we are forced to our knees. Please heal our land, in Jesus Christ alone. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
