Dare to be a Dreamer

Updated: Dec 28, 2023

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, December 28, 2023

Today’s Text: Genesis 37: 1-11

Key Verse: Genesis 37:5 (ESV): “Now Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers they hated him even more.”

The year 2023 is going to its close; and the new year is fast approaching. What are your dreams about or for the new year? Do you have any insight about what is coming around the corner? What you are looking out for, in your life, at the turn of another year? This medication has been sent your way so you may know that the coming year is for dreamers only. How can I be sure of this? God always has a plan for His people for every season and dispensation. And whatever you are able to see is what you are able to get or become. The reason is simple: Your dreams are your hope: your hope provokes expectation, and expectations anticipation, and anticipation faith.

We all have enough motivation from the life of Joseph to dream big. The future belongs only to such. Besides, God Himself has a dream for your life. He spoke through his prophet, saying: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11). The Bible is full of such dreams for us. The God that provoked great dreams in the heart of such young Joseph, only about age 17, the youngest of 12 brothers, is daring us to dream big for the next level. Like Joseph, we are His favored son – and everyone knows it.

Our own beautiful “coat of many colors” (grace and salvation through Jesus) is even better and more conspicuous. To top it off, we have been given the ability to dream dreams concerning what God can do if we believe for it. There may be growing sentiment, jealousy, persecution, and even outright hatred rising up against us; but nothing can stop the priceless few who dare to dream. They thought about killing him, but dreams preserve. Nothing stops a man of dreams. Especially because ours are no ordinary dreams; we have God-given dream. Therefore, like Joseph, dare to be a dreamer; and prepare to live, throughout 2024, in pursuit of that dream, day by day, until you reach God’s plan for your life.

Quote for the Day: “God is the foundation to all dreams: His plan for us always is to give us “a hope and a future” in every area of life.”

Prayer: Dear Lord and Father, thank You Lord because with You, in our lives, Lord, we have hope for even the darkest days, for You are our life, our light, our great comfort and confidence. You know those things in my heart that I barely dare to hope for, today I give them to you, I trust them to you, and ask that you lead me on to fulfilled hopes and dreams — in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I wish you all a very Happy and prosperous New Year. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
