Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, March 26, 2020
Today’s Text: Isaiah 43:1-4
Key Verse: Isaiah 43:1 (NIV): ”But now, this is what the LORD says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”
No doubt that as our world navigates this presents trial, the spirit of fear has been unleashed upon it; and everyone seems to be groping under panic; but this prophetic text offers all God’s people reasons not to fear. Israel was going through historic humiliation and needed divine reversal of the situation but there was that panic in the air that needed to overcome first.
So, God send them word, and is sending same to us also—that we have reasons not to fear. We need not fear because you’re a peculiar creation; you’re redeemed; you’re called by names; you’re the Lord’s; and He is with you. Passing through fire or water, which are allegorical expression of our various dangers, trials, and afflictions that make us fear cannot change any of these truths. Do not fear.
Quote for the Day: "Let our bushes be set on fiery fire, yet it shall not be consumed as long as God is in the midst of it.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for I am not alone in this moment. I thank you that I am not given to fear. I am yours, inJesus Christ name, Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
