Good morning and welcome to the last day of March, which also falls on this year’s fourth day of the Holy Week. It is often called the Spy Wednesday or Holy Wednesday by some Christian denominations. It is the Wednesday between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. Whereas we are not called to celebrate any particular day, we may learn from the biblical narratives of the events that led to the day brig called Spy Wednesday. Already, as our Easter Retreat begins on Friday, God has a whole lot more to teach us on the realities of this week. So, we are on a Spy Day because it is thought of as the day in which Judas conspired with local authorities to betray his Lord and Master.

This betrayer is long gone; but not his face and spirit. Our homes, churches, and fellowships are still full of brothers and sisters Judas, who come within or with the crowd to break our ranks. They are with us on the supper table and in our love feast; in our committees and leadership. We trust them with spiritual offices, and wash their feet; but for any reason or gain at all, they betray their Master and us by a kiss. Do not be that man my friend. Watch out against any lifestyle of odious hypocrisy and deceit, duplicity and double standards, selfish gain and worldly rewards: all these easily entangle us and lure us by a kiss. By never let such passions rise.

Quote for the Day: “God did not make a mistake for trusting people who betray Him. He already knows what is in a man. (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: O Lord, thank you for being touched by the feelings of my infirmities. Help me not to betray your trust Lord but Give ear to my prayer, and hide not yourself from my plea for mercy, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
