Favored, not Frustrated

Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, October 31, 2022

Today’s Text: Genesis 39:1-6

Key Verse: Genesis 39:4 (ESV): “So Joseph found favor in his sight and attended him, and he made him overseer of his house and put him in charge of all that he had.”

Favor is when God steps into a person’s situation to make a worthwhile difference. It is the highway to connect a better and brighter portion or token of destiny and help. It is sometimes mistaken as or for grace. For instance, Genesis 6:8 tells us of how Noah found Grace in the eyes of the Lord — which became a vehicle that stood him out among all peoples of the earth. When a man is favored of the Lord, such a person is connected to goodness and grace. In today’s meditation, God wants you to know that you are a favored creation. What man on earth can amount to anything in life without divine favor?! Is it not he that is loved of God that obtains His favor?!

Show me a man under grace and favor, and I will show you a man that cannot be run down by economic situation of his time, age and environment. And even during economic and political hostilities, God’s favor makes you different and distinguished. Today’s text shows us the power of favor — what it does in the life of a man. Joseph was sold to slavery, and still Divine favor stood him out. He was hated by his brethren, relegated and degenerated; yet it is in this that divine promise shines even brighter. The whole idea is the lesson we all may learn from this: God’s favor can never be frustrated.
