Give God a Chance

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, February 20, 2020

Our Text: Matthew 13:53-58

Key Verses: Matthew 13:58 (NASB): “And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.”

What Matthew puts as And he did not, Mark says, he could not do, many mighty works, because of their unbelief. If we want to know how much God can do in our lives, then this scripture shows that the answer is very simple: it can be so much or nothing much or nothing depending on if we allow him or not. God can do all things except when and what he is not allowed to act in our lives. Many time we prefer a puppet or remotely controlled God, or we want to be the God. Sometimes, we just chose to believe our own self, ways, and devices than trust Him.

We often seek to handle things our own ways rather than turn to Him and His Word. Whenever we are in this zone, our so called faith is not better than a masked unbelief. Yesterday, in the church I was emphasizing the fact that God’s word has authority in our lives to the extent at which we are obedient to it. God is much more willing to give us than we are able to receive but often, we position ourselves like an empty vessel presented for infilling. Yes, we come empty, and are capable of receiving; but we often come with tightly corked vessels. So that when God pours His living water upon us in great abundance; no impact is felt. All He requires from us is give Him a chance.
