Today’s Text: Philippians 3:12-14
Key Verse: Philippians 3:13 (ESV): “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.”

A woman rushed up to famous violinist Fritz Kreisler after a concert. With great excitement, she told him: “I’d give my life to play as beautifully as you do.” Stunned by what she said, Kreisler replied, “I gave my life to it.” God has given us great charge of our world already; but what we all need to architect desired and abiding results are left to us. Unfortunately, many of us are unable to pay the price and give it all it takes. A few people make great efforts but where they miss it is they think that life is about “here and there.” No. Life is about focus. A runner will lose the prize if s/he mistakes any point short of the goal for the end, or if s/he wastes time in looking back on the course already covered. As God’s dear children, we are not permitted to flip-flop between opinions. We are called to be people of purpose: a people of focus, men that match forward. We have nothing behind so that we cannot look back. We have all the prices ahead so that we can only press forward.
In this text, Apostle Paul charges us to give our life to the course of Christ with our face only set like a flint towards the kingdom goal in Christ. The idea is simple: not only should we be undistracted, but we must be unresting till our race is won. We have one goal, from start to finish. We can't ever outgrow it or need a modification of it. This admonition does not come from any mean person or novice. It is from a man we may reckon as a most senior apostle himself. Paul was rich and ripe in many graces, far beyond the experience of most Christians, yet he asserted that he had not reached the great end of his efforts. Why then should I allow pride to pump me to a false satisfaction? Friends, our course has already been marked out by the footprints of Christ who calls us to single mindedness. He said: “if your eye be single, your whole body will be full of light.”(Matthew 6:22) Therefore, let us follow the foot steps of Christ to the end. Every right step brings us nearer to Him. Hismark is the one thing that is set before us, and we must give our self and strength to it.
Quote for the Day: “Great effort does not give right result, only right efforts do.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to trust in Your grace and wisdom as I step out into an unknown future. Be with me Lord I pray, and give me success in all I do, for I want to be pleasing, in Jesus' name. Amen.
