God Delivers His Own

Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, May 16, 2022

Today Text: Psalms 40:1 -10

Key Verse: Psalms 40:4 (NIV): “Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods

Have you ever been overwhelmed and distressed in your life? If you are familiar with the account of David’s life, then you will feel strengthened that God never abandons His children to suffer corruption. David went through a situation in which he had to run for his life. He was being hunted by the military might of Israel under Saul. Indeed, it is doubtable anyone would not feel overwhelmed in such situation. David did, and confessed the same. He faced adversaries too strong for him. However, in those hours of need, he showed us just what we need to do should we face such situations in life — call upon the LORD. Our text today opens with a dramatic story of David’s confession of being in a slimy pit “of destruction,” a pit from which he couldn’t escape on his own. In this hopeless situation, he prayed and , God heard his prayer and not only lifted him out, but set his feet upon a rock as against the muddy footing he had suffered. God also puts a new song in his mouth. The God that gave David a new life is your God. He does the same for all His own.

When David called upon God, everything changed. He moved from fear to faith; from frustration into fascination; and from distress unto dependence upon God. Friends, no matter how dark the hour or how desperate the problems, God delivers His own in every situation. David found God to be his strength and rock, his fortress and deliverer, his shield and stronghold, and the horn of his salvation. You too can, if you put your trust in the Lord and call upon Him for help. You don’t have to hop from mountain to mountain like a bird. That stressful situations, that overwhelming financial burden, or whatever the need may be, even if it is a case of spiritual opposition; you do not have to be discouraged, or give in to doubt or worry. You can call on God in any moment of need, or no matter what you face. Your deliverer and redeemer lives, and is right there by your side!

Quote for the Day: “Men who learn the secret strength of crying out to God walk in mysterious victories in all life’s battles.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, I need Your divine interference everyday and moments of my life. I seek deliverance from everything bombarding my life and robbing me of rest. Deliverance belongs to You O Lord, deliver me — in Jesus’ name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
