Today’s Text: Psalm 20:1-9
Key Verse: Psalm 20:1 (ESV): “May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble!
May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!”

Throughout all human history, God has proven Himself to be trustworthy in any season of life. David’s allusion to the God of Jacob must have been a deliberate reference to the prayer of the patriarch when he prayed in Genesis 35:3 as follows: “I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress.” Brethren, we can also trust the name of our God, the Lord God of Jacob. His name was the safeguard to David. He was the confidence of Israel and the mighty fortress of their great ancestors. So even today, the name of the Lord is still our strong tower. We may run to Him and be safe. As long as we remain under the sun, we may not be free from its scourging. Rains will fall. Billows and tempests will ravage. Persecutions and terrorism will increase, and no man is immune or exempt from these dilemmas. Brother Henry said that even God’s crown on David’s head, the grace in his heart, did not exempt him from trouble. We all face troubled times one way or the other. But when the Lord is with us, he answers, hears, defends, sends us help from His sanctuary, strengthens us out of Zion, remembers all our offerings, accepts our sacrifices, grants us according to our heart desires, and fulfills all our counsel. God, in our day of trouble, is a mighty deliverer. Hallelujah!
Quote for the Day: “The strongest, yes, the only sure defense for God’s people remains the name of the Lord." (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, we thank you that in times of trouble, trials, fears and worries, we can run to you and find you to be a refuge and strong tower. Please continue to be our strength and our safe-place, in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
