God is Able: Praying with Jabez Part 3

Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, August 21, 2023

Today’s Text: 1 Chronicles 4:1-10

Key Verse: 1 Chronicles 4:10 (ESV): “Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked.”

What is it in your life that appears unalterable? It might really be unalterable, or might just be that it only appears so. But hear what the Bible has to say about the God who alters the unalterables. Some people would easily change their names today. Jabez couldn't change his; but he ran to court of heaven where spiritual affidavit not only adjusts all roots and etymology, but also sets aside all codes of cognomen, appellations and nomenclature.

Today, you and I have brighter opportunity than Jabez to cried to the God who is able to change life's destiny. When we pray for God’s blessings, He enlarges our territories. He keeps us free from harm, and pain. The God that honored Jabez's prayer and defied the unchangeable curse upon his life is alive today. He changes all situations in the life of anyone who calls upon Him.

Always depend on the abilities of our true, living and all-wise father. He is able to do all things. Indeed, He specializes in turning things meant as our doom and gloom into glorious bloom and bliss for us. Your life may have been marked by unpleasant things; you may have been written off by people because they think there’s no way out or means for you. But the same Jesus is alive and able to do change you story as He changed Jabez’s. Hallelujah! Amen.

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, teach me to submit my will to You and pour out my heart to You like Jabez. Help me to experience how you turn people’s frustrations into fascination, and obstacles into miracles — in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
