Today’s Text: Matthew 17:1-13
Key Verses: Matthew 17:4 (KJV) — “Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.”

O how we often play the Peter in our religious experiences and encounters! We always love to call the shot and determine the move of the spirit. This also sounds like the spiritual import of the woman at the well: we’d rather prefer the Lord to be worshipped in a place or way. We always want it our way and prefer God to move, speak, heal, deliver and save just the way we want it. But is He not God, who does all things in His own way, and to His own glory? Like Peter, we call him “Lord” according to Luke’s account of this text; or “Master” according Mark, and/or “Rabbi” in other translation; but we go ahead to tell Him what is good for us. Peter said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt. Why not the “if thou will’ first? Whatever the thoughts was that went through Peter’s soul in that moment of amazement; he was moved by emotion rather than meaning. Mark’s account explains the reason for Peter’s rationality: “He knew not what to answer, for they were sore afraid.” (Mark 9:6)
Fear or frenzy, we must never let ecstasy flush away the move of the Spirit and the intent of God, or His word. Our feeling of abundant joy, the interest, and the power wielded from fellowship must never confine us to the mountain or to the tent. God never calls a tent or tabernacle building or dwelling church, He calls one that goes into all the world. Whatever our blessings and experiences are on the mountain of encounter, we must take down the tent and go down to the valley of action where the ready or waiting to-be-fished men are. Whatever we ever saw on the mountain is nothing to ever compare the indescribable glory which eyes have not seen, ears have not heard and has never entered the hearts of men, which God has in stock for for them that love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9). So, think twice before you set the tent and settle for the present glory.
Quote for the Day: "God never calls a tent or tabernacle building or dwelling church, He calls one that goes into all the world.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, have Your way in my life, and in my worship. Reveal Your glory, and let me never seek to contend it with You, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
