Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, October 16, 2020
Today’s Text: John 8:3-11
Key Verses: John 8:7 (KJV) — “So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”
Never in all of life or eternity can we ever find neither man nor god who is whole, complete, thorough and perfect as Jesus Christ, our Lord. His love is undaunted; and His justice unalloyed. Men see and act in motions but He is the God of motives. There was so much before Him, but the very careful Pharisees saw but too little. No doubt, there was a cancer in the woman set before Him. The Pharisees saw that. They caught her in the very act. But there was even a greater leprous cancer in all of them that accused her; but that, they did not see. That was why there was no single self righteous or “holier than thou” person who was not himself guilty of this very crime. They all had one beam of plank or the other in their eyes while they paid attention to the speck of sawdust in others. So not one of them could cast a stone at her.
Jesus had all these before Him. The writer of Hebrews says, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” He has all human deeds written down. He knows the strength and the weakness of our law. He knows our up risings and down fallings. He knows our pride and pretense. However, while all these are true, He is full of compassion to the contrite in heart. He is patient with us in our guilt. His purpose is not to condemn us but to bring us to repentance. He did not come to destroy, but to save. Therefore, if you feel smitten in your conscience and you feel remorse for sin; if you are unable to exonerate yourself and casts the stone; do not just drop your stone and leave in shame. Humble yourself at the feet of Christ. You will leave with a better life, and a pardon from the Lord.
Quote for the Day: "Jesus already did the scoring; so that no man can do the stoning. All we’ve got to do just now is stop sinning.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, it is in confidence that I approach you. I know You receive me into Your kingdom and plan. Help me to continue to be confident in Your love, in Jesus name. Amen
With all my love and prayers,
