Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, November 3, 2020
Today’s Text: Romans 6:11-14
Key Verses: Romans 6:12 (KJV) — “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.”
Following Christ may be likened to the life of a soldier who takes a bows to serve his nation; or a protégé who submits or yields to the discipline of a mentor. It is deeper than a program. It is neither a people-work not a profession. It is giving up your time, your plan and your will and entire life to another. It is a life. Christ did that. He said He came not to do His own will but to do His Father’s will. When a new believe commits to a life of obedience to Jesus; he is like standing where Jesus stood at Gethsemane when He said, ”not my will, but yours be done.”
When your life is yielded to God in this way, nothing except the law of he spirit of life in Christ can dominate you. sin no longer dominate you. Jesus already disarm sin of its laws and sting by yielding to death on the cross. Therefore, our adversary no longer reserve the right or power to inflict its mortal poison upon us. By His death, Jesus already disarmed the devil and the dominion of sin of their right to bring us under control of condemnation. "For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death." (Rom 8:2)
Quote for the Day: “Just as deviation from God gives sin dominion over us, devotion to Him (God) gives us dominion over sin and assures true self-conquest.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please show me Your mercy and let your love speak for me, and give me victory over sin, in Jesus' name. Amen.
I wish you a happy new month with all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
