Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, November 26, 2020
Today’s Text: 1 Corinthians 10:6-13
Key Verses: 1 Corinthians 10:9 (KJV) — “
Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.”

The relationship between the Church and our Lord Jesus Christ is prefigured in the Hebrew Bible (Thr Old Testament) by the relationship between Israel and Jehovah. The Jews regarded the name of Yahweh as too sacred to be verbalized and was vocally replaced by the Hebrew word Adonai meaning “my Lord” or ”the Lord.” The Greeks translated the same as Kyrios “Lord.” But Jesus is that Adonai, "the Lord," whom though they revered unknowingly, they tempted Him, with rejection and contempt; just as their fathers acted in contempt in the wilderness.
Paul charges the church so that the church’s relationship with their Lord Christ will not also become contemptible. By implication, a loyal Christian fulfills the covenant position or relationship of the Hebrews when they truly reverenced and served the Lord their God with a faithful heart. However, we must not be like them when they become traitors to him whom we call Master and Lord. This position is what the Apostle regarded as tempting the Lord. It is a sin in the same condemnable rebellion as Israel's. The apostle says it is tempting the Lord because of the danger it brings upon us. We must remember his admonition to the Hebrews that ”it is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Hebrews 10:31)
Quote for the Day: “Men who despise and reject Christ tempt, despise and resist their only Sanctifier and Savior. They risk their only way of salvation, and of eternal life.”
Prayer: O Lord, I am yours eternally and desire to be your faithful and obedient servant all the day long, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
