God’s “Let” Diary (Part 175) — Let the Peace of God Rule in Your Heart

Writer: Dr. Simon OlatunjiDr. Simon Olatunji

Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, December 29, 2020

Today’s Text: Colossians 3:12-15

Key Verses: Colossians 3:15 (KJV) — “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”

One of our world’s most wanted treasure of all time is peace. It is most wanted not because it is scarce but because the world simply does not understand or accept its basis and source. And perhaps, the most asked question today is: “Where can peace be found?” Unfortunately, the answer can not be found from our deepest science. We have amazing medical, psychological or sociological methodologies but none of those could avail us the value of peace. The word of God tells us that God keeps anyone in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him (Isaiah 26:3). It is only in God that peace may be found. It is never in mystery religion or structural or biological adjustments. It is never in philosophy or psychotherapy, or in any universal method of controling life circumstances.

Peace comes from trusting the God who alone has control over all the things that you neither understand nor have control over. He alone knows the secret things and is able to work them together for our good. So, trusting Him or staying our mind on Him is to allow the kind of peace which this text promises. It is peace that does not fade away. This is what the Apostle means when he enjoins us to let or allow the peace of Christ to rule in our hearts. In this way, when disappointments come, because they will; or people that matter in our lives turn bitter;or matters in our lives turn sour and harden up; we never stop enjoying the unalloyed peace of Jesus Christ in our hearts. Because our minds are stayed on the Lord and not on things; and our confidence is on Him, and not on events or people.

Quote for the Day: ”Prayer is one of the appointed blessings for peace, and worrying is it's opposite.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, fill my heart with your peace. Give me the courage to trust you in troubled times, in Jesus name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers, I wish you happy boxing, day and a Happy New Year in advance,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
