God’s “Let” Diary (Part 27) — Let Your Hand be with Me

Updated: Jul 8, 2020

Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, July 7, 2020

Today’s Text: Nehemiah 2:12-20

Key Verses: Nehemiah 2:18 (KJV): “Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.

From the day we came to Christ, we gain access to His Kingdom of marvelous light. It’s a great world of opportunity. Yes, but it also brings with it a huge responsibility. It’s an enlistment in God’s end-time army. We live daily to please our Grand Commander; and we fight daily battles to push back satanic frontiers in our world; and to build the Kingdom that we represent. That’s what happens from the very moment we surrender our lives to Jesus. God already mapped a plan for each of us in His overall Kingdom agenda.

Like Nehemiah, we may feel weak and displaced; but we still have a place in the plan of God. In Paul’s theology, we are all called to carefully build upon Christ who is our foundation. Nehemiah was moved amidst the ruins of Jerusalem. We must be moved though we are caught up amidst moral ruins and spiritual decay. Ours is even a generation more fitting of broken spiritual walls — hearts of people are broken, marriages are ruined, sexuality is perverted, and our economy is a state of comma. This is the time to heed the clarion call to rise up and build.

The difference between Nehemiah and many Christians of our day is that we talk big and pray less over our burdens; but Nehemiah was burdened for his city, he talked less but labored in prayer until answers came. God is calling us to rise up and do something about the fallen godly heritage and moral standards of our age. What mattered to Nehemiah must matter to us. He was moved by what God put in his heart; not the opinions of those in his life. He was touched by the reproach of the commonwealth; not by tribal or denominational opiums. If Nehemiah were around today, no racial barriers would stop him. Therefore, let nothing stop our duty to God. Sambalath and Tobias may be there to scorn us, but we must rise up and build.

Quote for the Day: "Every spiritual assignment has two things in common: opposition and provision — depending on our attitude; both can crush or spur us.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear God, please give the strength to but all limitations behind and serve your a Kingdom each passing moment of my life, in Jesus name. Amen.

With all my love and prayer,
