Today’s Text: Ezekiel 44:4-9
Key Verses: Ezekiel 44:6 (KJV) — “And thou shalt say to the rebellious, even to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O ye house of Israel, let it suffice you of all your abominations.”
In a dramatic episode, God brought Ezekiel back by "the way of the north gate before the house,” the same point where he was made to gaze on the idolatrous worship of the people. Israel has become so corrupt that God’s anger has been aroused against them, and God now says enough is enough. God commanded Ezekiel to tell the people to let all they have done suffice them. By this He means: I have had enough of your abominations. You have revered worldly greatness and splendor above the contentment of godliness more than enough. You have regarded idols and deities, which are nothing but the work of your own hands and the invention of your own minds more than enough.
“Enough is enough” is the same charge that God is sending to our generation today. We must see Ezekiel with the hosts of all God’s prophets, angels and ministers of the New Testament charging us: “Tell the rebellious generation that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I have had enough of all your abominations.” Indeed, more than Israel, our generation has grown thicker and longer wings in rebellious things. We have not retained God in our knowledge. We have abandoned natural relations order of sexuality and are inflamed with lust for people if same sex. We enjoy denying to give unto God the reverence He deserves; rather, we arrogate reverence to our self-made gods: be it the overrated gospel minister, the music icon, the football or soccer star, or the way of life that we adore. God is saying enough is enough. Let us return to God. Enough of vanity. Let us return to gravity. God is worthy of our full reverential regard and worship. Let us return to Him.
Quote for the Day: "In its constitution and dominion, the human flesh naturally bow in reverence to sin. But in its liberation by, and subjection to, Christ; God is glorified in our mortal bodies.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, we confess that there is no other foundation of hope than Jesus Christ Your Son. We repent of all whoredom and return to You wholeheartedly, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
