Hard to Find (Part 2)

Today’s Text: Proverbs 31:25–31

Key Verse: “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.” — Proverbs 31:30 (KJV)

In the concluding verses of Proverbs 31, we see a carwful shift from what the woman marked virtuous does to who she truly is. In a world where clothing is almost everything for women, her fashion is “strength and honor.” She carries an inward dignity that cannot be purchased, borrowed, or imitated. Her confidence concerning the future is not presumption; but from a character that grows from a life ordered by wisdom, diligence, and the fear of the Lord.

The Bible says such life of fear of the Lord, and a holy reverence that governs private decisions, directs relationships, shapes priorities, and disciplines the tongue is hard to find. Proverbs says that when she opens her mouth, wisdom comes forth, and the law of kindness is on her tongue. Whereas harsh words are cheap and careless speech is common these days, she balances wisdom with kindness as a rare treasure. She does not tear down her home; she builds it. She does not spread fear; she ministers grace.

This woman is also watchful. She “looketh well to the ways of her household” and does not eat the bread of idleness. She is attentive to what God has placed in her care—her home, relationships, responsibilities, gifts, and influence. She understands that neglect quietly destroys what diligence preserves. Her faith is not passive; it is expressed through consistent service, disciplined stewardship, and loving concern for those entrusted to her.

She is not flawless, nobody is, but her family rises to call her blessed, and her husband praises her. That's what happens when we continually bear the fruit of godly devotion. That's why the highest praise in the text is not for charm, beauty, wealth, skill, or public recognition. It is “a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.” Charm can mislead, and beauty fades; but a life rooted in reverence for God continues to speak long after outward advantages have passed.

Beloved, thw big picture is not about women, it is about virtue. It is never hard to find talented people, a beautiful perqon, or a successful one—but it has always been hard a person whose heart is truly surrendered to God—a life that is strong without becoming harsh, kind without becoming weak, productive without losing her devotion, and dignified without becoming proud. Show me this person; and we've found an uncommon life whose works shall speak “in the gates,” the public place of recognition. God knows how to bring honor to a life that honors Him in secret.

Action Steps: Today, ask the Lord to clothe you with strength and honor rather than depending on outward appearances for confidence. Guard your words, and let wisdom and kindness rule your tongue in every conversation. Be diligent with what God has entrusted to you, refusing the subtle pull of idleness, distraction, and neglect. Finally, make the fear of the Lord your highest pursuit, because godly character is the beauty that heaven praises.

Let Us Pray: Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of the virtuous woman in Your Word. Clothe me with strength, honor, wisdom, and kindness. Teach me to speak words that heal, encourage, and build others up. Help me to watch faithfully over every responsibility You have placed in my hands. Deliver me from empty pursuits, and establish in me a deep and sincere fear of You. May my life bring glory to Your name and leave behind works that testify of Your grace—in Jesus’s name, Amen.
