Daily Scripture Threshing for Wednesday, October 13, 2021
Today’s Text: Isaiah 54:11-17
Key Verses: Isaiah 54:17 (NIV) “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.”
We wrestle daily with a host of spiritual enemies that forge various weapons of wickedness against our souls. The Bible has so many descriptions for them and their boss: serpent, roaring lion, wounded beast, armed strong man, mammon, and of course, principalities and powers skilled in high realms wicked hostilities. This enemies have different modes of attack. They employ great variety of weapons to wreck their havocs, especially during these perilous times. But in/through Christ, we are never again given the spirit to be afraid of them. No, but indeed, they are afraid of us. And they should be because Satan’s weapons have been rendered worthless through the power of Jesus Christ. The devil’s fiercest weapons are now worthless before us.
Understanding such scriptures as today’s gives any rather fearful and troubled Christian new courage to stand and walk in victory. Both the destroyer and the weapons of his destruction were created by the God you serve. Therefore, whatever may be the enemy‘s weapon against us, today — be it persecution, temptation, false teaching, forward tongues of men, and weariness in watchfulness and in the place of prayer; or a most vicious cohorts of darkness — God’s word tells us no weapon forged, formed or fashioned against us shall prosper. Even if those weapons are through spoken ordinances of the tongue that are lifted against us in judgment; they shall be condemned. Our God suffers no one to do us harm. He does not suffer His righteous to be moved. He rebukes kings for our sake. Whether it is a silent whisper of hurt, or noisome and calumnious manifestation evil, no weapon formed against us.
Quote for the Day: “As Christians, we condemn wicked weapon of froward and malignant tongues through a lifestyle of integrity; we disappoint all aspersions by our reputation; condemn lies by our truth; and hate by our love.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, cleanse me from anything that is blocking me from walking in victory. Fill me with peace and joy. Renew my strength so that I can boldly stand up against the wiles of the enemy, in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D
