Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, April 2, 2020
Today’s Text: Ezekiel 14:1-11
Key Verse: Ezekiel 14:3 (NIV): ”Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all?”
No matter its form or shade, idolatry produces estrangement from God. It puts stumbling blocks before the idolater’s face so that it I s difficult to seek and see the face of God. O how God puts us in a beautiful world and blesses us with life, science, wisdom and dominion of the material world, but we make gods out of all the created things—and these have estranged us from God.
We must get on truth: God calls man to refrain from deifying self, choice, passion, taste, habit, association, position and material; not for the sake of rivalry. There’s no ground of comparison between non gods and God. There’s no comparing created things with the Creator of all things. The caution is necessary so that we’d not set a barrier against ourselves.
Quote for the Day: "Man forfeits his rightful place before God if he fails to give God His rightful place.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, we have seen the damages, destruction, and devastation that forsaking You can bring upon us. We repent before You and seek your mercy, in Jesus Christ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
