Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, April 4, 2020
Today’s Text: Ezekiel 14:1-11
Key Verse: Ezekiel 14:6 (ESV): ”Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Repent and turn away from your idols, and turn away your faces from all your abominations.”
Throughout all history, God uses different circumstances including disasters to bring man into reflection. This fact is central to biblical and theological positions. While God’s role in the current pandemic may not be causative, but we believe it is permissive so that we may repent and turn away from our different abominable acts. But good news is that God always seeks to bring good out of the situations, in spite of how bad the disaster or our sins may be.
This text therefore represents an earnest divine call to a true repentance. There can be no hope in any merely outward cleansing. Our hands are only reflection of our hearts. We have to go back to the Searcher of hearts, who has also offered us the remedy by His Son’s blood of eternal covenant—so that when we repent before Him, and accept the cleansing of our hearts, we should not perish.
Quote for the Day: "All human affections proceed necessarily and essentially from the infection of the heart.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord Jesus, we have succumbed to the thief, and he had comes to steal, kill and destroy us. Lord, we now turn back to You that we may have life, and have it to the full. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
