Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, April 5, 2021
Today’s Text: Luke 24:1-12
Key Verse: Luke 24:6 (ESV) — “He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee.“
Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov who is popularly known as Joseph Lenin, the Russian revolutionary and political theorist that founded the Soviet Union and its communist ideology known as Leninism vowed to stamp out the Christian faith from the Soviet and rather engrave his own name forever. A few years later, he died and the Christian tallies have been done on the same capitol in which he made the proclamation.
When he was buried, his loyalists tried to make his tomb sacred. They built Lenin’s mausoleum and made it an attraction for tourists to go through, observe and adore Lenin's displayed body. Unfortunately, the tomb was later torn down by another government and his lifeless body was evicted and done away with. However, before this, a Christian missionary couple once visited the mausoleum. They arrived in a day when his body was being washed with chemicals that preserved it, and guards were there to enforce the rule of silence or prevent people from talking. People were given strict instructions that as they walked through this mausoleum they were not to speak a word. But the missionary’s wife, who normally follows all kinds of rules, touched by what she saw could not help but shout: “Lenin is lifeless, but Jesus is alive!”
One of the glories and joys of faith in Jesus Christ is that we serve a risen, lively and life giving Lord. He is the giver of life. His light lets us enjoy life. (Psalm 36:9). In Him we enjoy the free gift of God’s eternal life. (Romans 6:23) Apostle John said: “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His name will he hears us.” (1 John 5:13-14)
