Today’s Text: 1 Kings 17:8-24
Key Verse: 1 Kings 17:14 (NKJV) — “For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth."

Today, we are asking just one question: what is the secret of unfailing barrel? We want to ask God to show us just what we need so that we may know no more lack. The only secret of true provision and blessings is God. He is the source of all good. He provides for His own. The Zidonians and Phoenicians serve Baal and deny the Lord God of Israel. But mark the declaration of the prophet. It is a deliberate proclamation to show that what is about to be done is possible only by the Lord God of Israel. The words were spoken to clarify that Jehovah is the true and only source of unfailing barrels and unending flow of blessings. The woman of Zarephath probably once denied the Lord God of Israel. But it is her golden opportunity to alley every doubt and embrace faith in God. Some people belong to the commonwealth of Israel, but know not that God is able to touch their cruse and bless their barrel. If you are like that, you too must harken to the God of Israel, and alley all doubts.
There may have been neither rain nor dew; but by the miracle-working power of God, our barrel of meal shall never waste; neither shall our cruse of oil fail. We serve the God that rains manna from heaven. He provides waters from the brook and sends the ravens. He is the God that sets aside kings and nobles, but uses widows and their mites. He fed five thousand men with two loaves of bread. Let us learn to grow undaunted faith in God. The prophet said: “Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first." Jesus says, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33) Let us also do accordingly. Let us work out our faith and learn to do whatever God says to do. By this, we shall walk in the covenant of unfailing cruise of oil. Even when wine seemed to fail us, there is a river of life-giving waters that flows ceaselessly with latter and better wine of joy.
Quote for the Day: “Supplies of flour and oil never diminish where faith in God, and obedience to His words are untarnished.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Teach me Lord to walk with you in living faith. Help me to live by every word that proceeds from Your mouth, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
