Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Saturday, July 13, 2019
Our Text: 1 Chronicles 4:1-10
Key Verse: 1 Chronicles 4:10 (KJV): “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
How would it feel if your life becomes a deviation from the awkward historical tone of your generation? Today’s text comprises of a very awkward account of an unsung family trajectory. Imagine no significant personality or one to reckon with until we come to a certain man, by the name, Jabez. His prayer reveals how much he understood what most people of his generation, and many of us do not—a secret that brought him to the frontline of all times.
Knowing, trusting and seeking God as the center of our endeavors and blessings is the secret. God wants to bless every life. But, we must first make the choice to invite Him into our life and ask for His blessings. This is what Jabez did. He is, today, an example of how God wants us to trust Him in passionate cry in our moments of desperation, and to demonstrate outright dependence upon Him. He sets an immovable landmark of how God wants us to approach Him through effectual fervent prayer in every area of life.
*Quote for the Day:* “No one can stand out by maintaining the status quo of the crowd.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, it’s only you that brings increase and causes a change. Please turn my life and situation around, and make me a marked blessing to my generation, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
