Learning from Jabez (Part Six)

Our Text: 1 Chronicles 4:1-10

Key Verse: 1 Chronicles 4:10 (KJV): “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”

There are countless God’s blessings at the disposal of every created being. The moon is blessed with its own class of glory and the Sun with its kind. The queen of Sheba is blessed, but when she saw God’s blessing of wisdom on Solomon, only on material things and shivered. Yet Solomon in all his glory was not blessed like Lillies and Sparrows. Our God is full of blessings. He lavishes blessings on His creatures severally and liberally.

However, most believers aren’t good at taking or receiving their blessings. Most are still jumbling and mumbling about things that God has already blessed them with. But Jabez took an exemption. O he must understand God and scriptures. He not only knew what the enemy has done to and in his life, but he knew what God can do. He disdained his wretchedness, left it on the foot of the mercy seat in pursuit of what God can do. He asked for God’s blessings, and so doing obtained a more honorable testimony.

Prayer: Dear Lord, Do not allow any circumstance, any curse, any force, or any person, to hold me back from Your blessing, favor, and purpose for my life. Bless me indeed by your mercy, in Jesus name. Amen.
