Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, March 29, 2020
Today’s Text: Genesis 1:1-5
Key Verse: Genesis 1:3 (ESV): ”And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”
“Let there be light!”—These are God’s first metaphorical power-phrase that produced earth’s primary reset from chaos. He (God) needed no plea, no preparation, no consultation of secondary agency, and no modes, means or mediums—He simply speaks, and it is done. Nothing in all the universe stays in chaos when God’s laws are obeyed.
While we grope in the horrible darkness of the present corrosive pandemic and the world seems back to a void-like state, what we all need is a return to the beginning and the source of all things; and confess that He is our Maker, and we are the sheep of His pastures. Like in the beginning, we shall not need to ask for light. He will send it.
Quote for the Day: "At God’s commands, heaven and earth are set on a timeless obedience by which everything seen or unseen, tangible or intangible arrange or rearrange itself.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: God of creation, let our generation come to the brightness of Your Son’s light, we pray in His precious name—Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
