Today’s Text: Proverbs 16:1-9
Key Verse: Proverbs 16:7 (NKJV): “When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”
What we have now is a revision of apostolic Christianity—a totally different version. The path of Christian courage and faith in the power of God is no more popular. Fear is being promoted through our pulpits than faith as enemy mentality and darkness receives greater attention Han light. The consequence of this deviation is that many movements and churches rather worship the presence of evil in the world than the supremacy of Jesus Christ over those evil. We are brought under an assumption that if anything is too good or successful, it must be the devil. Even our so called faith confessions and public praying is a rude demonstration of our fear of enemies.
Whereas God’s word—this scripture—admonishes us that all we need is for our ways to be pleasing to the Lord, then our enemies cease to be apparent. Friends, if your thoughts are pleasing to the Lord, you will not have to worry about your ways. That is the root of our generation’s deviation, depression and downfall. Our thoughts no longer retain God. We are sold to the thoughts of the carnal mind, that we are commanded to mortify. And except God becomes Lord of the mind, our ways cannot be pleasing to Him; and except our ways ate pleasing to Him, we will continue to grope under the terror of our enemies.
The conduct of the enemies of the Lord's people in all ages has always been the same; but the same God—that made Egypt to bequeath all its gold to Israel, Hiram of Tyre and the Queen of Sheba to pay obeisance to Solomon, fiery furnace to befriend the 3 Hebrew children; a troop of lion to cower before Daniel, Evil-Merodach to lift the head of Jehoiachin, and Cyrus to free, defend and support captives Jews—is alive today. Only let your ways please Him.
Quote for the Day: “All God’s children walk and live under the boundless mercy of God, which no power of enemies can alter or tamper with.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to trust You with all your heart; and walk in confidence that triumphs in every situations— in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
