Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, April 9, 2022

Today’s Text: Matthew 6:25-34

Key Verse: Matthew 6:26 (ESV): “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

As a child, I loved seeing birds. I joined my brothers in trapping some of them. We enjoyed catching birds for the fun of it. But I always nursed a question in my heart: how do they (birds) survive cold weather? How do they keep warm? So, it happened that as we tried to cook one of our prey, the intricate nature of the bird’s feather helped me solve that mystery. O how God did spectacular and detailed job to shield those tiny creatures with beautiful layers of feathers. God really cares, not just for the birds, He cares for every little creature. He cares especially for us, whom He created in His image.

The turtle-doves, wood-pigeons, and finches were common birds in a Galilean landscape; and Jesus pointed attention to them to let us learn how much God cares about every aspect of our lives. He wants us to think about birds to help us take confidence in the providence of God. The fowls of the air have no anxiety about the supply of their wants. They do not sow or reap, yet they do not worry or weep. Instead, they fill the streets including grove-sites with music. Cold or warm, they greet each breaking day with gratitude through their songs. So, how much more should we, who are of more consequence and significance, care less about life, and be more grateful to our gracious, loving and faithful Universal Parent for feeding, clothing, and watching over us.

Quote for the Day: “Jesus pointed us to God’s cate of little things such as birds to quiet our frazzled spirits and comfort our agitated minds’.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me when I am so worried; frightened and afraid for the cares of life. Let the lessons from the birds strengthen my faith daily that You are near to me and for me — in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I wish you a fabulous Saturday with all my Love and Prayers,
