Today’s Text: Exodus 14:10-18
Key Verse: Exodus 14:15 (ESV): “The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward.”
Like the Hebrew children on their way to the promise land, we must face the large fairy body of the Red Sea right on our path. The Sea will not take itself out of the way; but we must continue to go forward. It does not belong to us to take the Seas out. They will always be there on our way; but what we are commanded to do is go forward. And we can — as long as we realize that the propelling power within us is greater than all those repelling obstacles without. A new month is here, and the journey through the year is long: ours is never the promise of a trouble-free journey — only a safe one. On our journey, there will always be a valley of the shadow of death, but we shall walk through them all. The narrow way is rough and there are always many dangers; but we must go forward till we achieve our goal of haven. When David Livingstone, missionary of the of the London Missionary Society broke fresh ground among the Bakh-atlas, he wrote to the Directors of his organization to give an account of his assignment. At the end of his report, he reaffirmed his openness to their leadership, promising his readiness "to go anywhere — provided it is forward." God’s command to Israel was: march forward. That’s what we all need to do. If we want God to help us path the Red Sea, we must march forward. If we want to take the Canaan before us, we must march forward. If God will drive out the Anaks before us, we must march forward.
Quote for the Day: “Whereas modern day Christians have been misled into an erroneous assumption that God never leads us into difficult situations; a true biblical position is, He takes us through them.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank You for Your love for me, and for being my refuge from trouble. Thank You for replacing my distress with peace. Please continue to be my strength when it feels hard to carry on — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayers,
