Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, November 22, 2021
Today’s Text: Luke 18:1-8
Key Verse: Luke 18:1 (KJV): “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”
The devil knows that when a person runs from God in the morning, s/he will scarcely find Him the rest of the day. So he does all in his best to keep God’s people from praying. He does this successfully when he jolts us into becoming mechanical busy bees whose routines have accommodation for anything but prayer. Why does the devil do that? He does that because he knows he, in all his wielded powers and cohorts can never stand or withstand the power of a praying believer.
Just like our prayer moves God to act, it incapacitates the devil from his acts. He is rendered helpless when we pray. Indeed, everything against divine interest in the life of a praying believer is made null—especially when s/he keeps the fire or flame of prayer going up. A renowned prayer evangelist, Sidlow Baxte, addressing the closing session of a school of prayer said, “Men may spurn our appeals, reject our message, oppose our arguments, despise our persons; but they are helpless against our prayers."
One of the greatest confidence we have in prayer, and indeed, in today’s scriptural admonition is if a unjust man can yield to such a demand made by one to whom he is not related, by whom he is not entreated, and in whom he is absolutely not interested, how confident then may we be that our God, who has begotten us in the adoption as His own sons and daughters, will interpose on our behalf. When pray in season or out of it, an d faint not upon our knees, God’s parental heart is moved to grant us more than we can ever think or ask.
Quote for the Day: “The more we pray, the more we realize that God is never out of season, never ceases to answer, ever present with us, never absent from us, never indifferent to us, and never unwilling to help us.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, My confidence is renewed in the fact that you grant everything desire of my heart which is part of your plan for my life. May I continue to grow in my confidence in your promises, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D
