Power to the Weary

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Sunday, June 23, 2019

Our Text: Isaiah 40:27-31

Key Verses: Isaiah 40:29 (ESV): “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.”

God is sending someone a message of hope today: to let us know that His strength or power does not diminish with time, only ours do. Because of the length of the promise, Israel, described in today’s text, became soul-weary and had lost hope. They have been expectant of their return from captivity for decades. They have built houses and settled down, they have married and had sons and daughters, and have sought to adapt to Babylon; and turn their lives around.

Marks of soul weariness have shown upon them; and the more it does, the more they wondered "how much longer?" Some of them feel that God has abandoned them. Some feel that He has hid himself from them; and others feel that their cause has been disregarded by the LORD. Their weariness has come about from their waiting and not seeing God move. Is that not where some of us are today, also? But God is sending us a revival of hope—a word of strength to our wearied so. So stand up, stay strong, and hold up your head. There’s power for you, more power!

Prayer: Dear Lord, I'm weary. My energy is sagging, and my motivation is lagging. And I am so in need of you. I need your strength and your fresh touch to get back on track again. Let your joy be my strength in Jesus Christ name. Amen.
