Today’s Text: Psalm 126:1-6
Key Verse: Psalm 126:1 (NASV): “When the Lord restored the captivity of Zion,
we were like those who dream.”
How does it feel when you wake up with a delightful dream, or breaking news of joy? — Especially in a world in which everything is almost already a nightmare, full of trouble, terror, and distress. It is a great joy to wake up with such beautiful encouragement as help is coming for captive people of God. Do you feel like you are, or have been, in a state of being held, imprisoned, enslaved, or confined? I dare you to rejoice: for that siege is over in your life. The text was rightly named “a Song of Degrees” because it forms the climax of the poetic declaration of prophecy by the psalmist, pointing to the breaking of a special day of perfect joy for Zion. Brethren, not only shall you survive all the pain, but none of those pain shall be in vain. They are ending gain. Like Zion, your joy is returning, after all you’ve been through.
God takes His people on from blessing to blessing in different degrees of divine goodness. Things may not be smiling right now, but your covenant position is victory. Regardless of any night or loss on your journey, joy always comes in the morning. God always shows up for His men: He will show up for you. He watches your every step. He blesses His children with new songs and turns every disappointment into blessings. If you have faith that God sets every captive free, and restores them, He will do it in your life. He turns beggars into sowers and fills their hearts with deep-seated joy which surpasses human comprehension. Therefore, I see an end to that pain over in your life this new dawn. I hear the rattling sound of your broken chains. I see a heavy rain of gains in your life — an abundant harvest taking the place of your captivity.
Quote for the Day: “The ultimate scriptural turn of God’s people’s captivity is the rapture of the Saints. Anyone who misses that, and the joys that come with its dawn misses everything.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, terminate all afflictions from the crushing tyranny of the wicked in my life. Do not allow the rod of the wicked to rest upon the lot of the righteous. Restore the promised great joy to Zion — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayers,
