Today’s Text: Luke 17:20-37
Key Verse: Luke 17:32 (NLT): “Remember what happened to Lot’s wife!.”

There has been a most disappointing ingratitude of the nine lepers on Christ’s way to Jerusalem. The occasion also gave opportunity to His scoffers’ sarcastic speculation as to the nearness of His kingdom. Looking beyond their scoffing, our Lord unfolds the nature of His kingdom as well as His advent. And among the caution He gives is the lesson from Lot's wife.
Jesus diverted their attention to a more noble thing to mind while anyone worries about His So He reminds them of Lot’s wife who has a promised kingdom before her; but lost both the promise and her life. By this, Jesus wants us to beware lest through looking lovingly and longingly back on worldly things, we loose sight of what God sets before us. Yes, the Gomorrah demons are never given up; but the Lord cautions us not to become unmindful of the negative outcome of not giving up totally on the spirits of Sodom.
When such glorious hope lays ahead of us; why should we look lovingly behind us?! Or shall we say that the world was still more to us than God? O brother and sister, whenever you’re beginning to think of self with supreme concern, it’s an alert to remember Lot’s wife. Whenever worldliness gets the best of you, remember Lot’s wife. Whenever you perceive yourself becoming moral carrion that thinks s/he can cut corners and help self, you must remember Lot’s wife.
Quote for the Day: "The constant paradox of the Christian life is that you lose your life when you try, by flesh, to save it.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, help me not to trust in the arms of flesh. Help me to let go of all my fleshly devices, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
