Today’s Text: Isaiah 54:11-17
Key Verse: Isaiah 54:17 (ESV): “No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”

The whole of Isaiah 54 represents Yahweh’s eternal covenant of peace that He promised to all of us who are named after the Lord God of Israel. We all live in a troubled world and are all in constant need of assurance and safety. From the days of Cain down through the church ages, and up till now; tongues have continued to rise against tongues, men against men, and nation against nation. It has been so, and according to our Lord’s prophecy, it will be so to the end. Tongues rose against the Lord, and so will they rise against us. But we are not left without the needed assurance of safety.
Indeed, no matter how constant and concerted; mighty and malignant or wise and wicked the craft of evil fashioned against us are; as believers in Christ, we operate under a mightier, wiser, and stronger covenant of protection. By “you shall refute every tongue that rises against you,” God’s word points us to a most radical offensive threat to our peace — enemies’ accusation. But though accusations rise to condemn us, they instead shall be condemned. And by “this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,” all Christians are called to be confident in their hope in God. We walk, live, and hold our being under a lease of security which is by providence better than merit, it is our inheritance, according to this scripture. And this heritage is not from our unpredictable earthly father. It is from God. And there we may walk confidently in our sure heritage of safety.
Quote for the Day: “As Christians, we are not safe because we are far from evil. No, we live with them. But we are safe because the Lord is with us." (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for being my hiding place. Under Your wings I always find refuge. Thank You for Your unfailing covenant of protection over me wherever I go. I thank you because though evil is always near, You keep them far from me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
