Sharpen Your Spiritual Sensitivity

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, January 23, 2020

Today’s Text: Genesis 18:1-15

Key Verses: Genesis 18:2b, 3, (ESV): ”...When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground. He said, “If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by.”

In today’s world, it’s so very easy to miss out on God’s blessing. The reasons are not far fetched: there are noises, stumbling blocks and distractions everywhere. However, living a spiritually conscious life can prevent this from happening to us. From Abraham’s story, we are blessed with a clear example of spiritual sensitivity even when people or things appear so strange. The patriarch saw two strange men and his spiritual antenna was sharp enough to determine they were no ordinary beings. Except we live a spiritually alert and conscious lives, it will be difficult to separate the holy from the ordinary.

In the Old Testament, not only Abraham saw extraordinary in the ordinary, Ezekiel also heard and saw the majesty of God. Daniel saw into the dream of the king of Babylon. In the New Testament, Stephen saw the vision of an open-heaven (Acts 7:55), and John, the beloved Apostle saw the risen Lord in his lonely Isle of Patmos. If we learn how to follow God in purity of heart, and allow His word to dwell richly in us, we too can dream dreams and see visions of the glory of God. Living a prayerful life and walking in obedience are sure ways to connecting the ultrahigh frequency of spiritual networks.
