Today’s Text: Acts 3:1-10
Key Verse: Acts 3:6 (NLT): “But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!””
In our desire for riches and fame, we have been brainwashed so much by secularism that we don't think that some things are worth more than gold. The story in today's text points us to the fact that the name of Jesus Christ our Lord is worth more than silver and gold. We all seek after silver and gold and are oriented toward a life that look settled as long as those materials are there. The business people look at materials the net worth of life. Kings and nobles perceive it as a show of fame and power. Beggers looks to it as though it were the solution to their problem. Unfortunately, no matter how much they (beggers) get, their problems still do not go away.
Today's text presents us with the fact that spiritual riches or true riches are not in objects. The beautiful gate could have casted its shadow of beauty on the man situation. All the silver and gold ever received could have solved his lameness. Or Peter could avail nothing in the affair of this man. He was not rich in silver and gold. In fact, he has none. But he was rich towards God. The whole scene presents us several contrasts: Between the man‘s misery and the beauty of the temple gate. Between silver, gold and the name of Jesus. Between the man’s expectation and his true need. And between being worldly rich and spiritually rich. Brethren, this story teaches us that Jesus is morethan for all the world. Whether you are rich in materials or poor as the begger, turn your faith away from materials. Instead, set your heart on the riches in the name of Jesus. Only in His name have we all received grace upon grace; wealth of knowledge, insight, and power over life’s challenges and needs.
Quote for the Day: “To where may the world trace the Christian’s heart desire: to measurable silver and gold, or the immeasurable name of Jesus?" (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please keep me from the love of money which is the root of all kinds of evil. Get me rooted in eagerness for your name and sake , in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.

We, that are alive, can help ourselves, but nothing to do to help the dead. May God open our understanding to be of help, and know where and how to help someone around us
Dear God. Keep me from anything that I tend to love and choose over you. Anything that’s the root of any evil and hinders my time and love for you O Lord.
