Today’s Text: Ephesians 6:10-18
Key Verse: Ephesians 6:10 (ESV): “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might”
Have you ever felt sick or weak, and getting up on your feet seems so difficult or impossible? Have you ever thought that standing requires some strength? The risen Lord, speaking through Apostle Paul to the post-resurrection church, says that for us to stand firm in Him, despite the raging battles against forces of evil, we must be strong in the Lord. Our text uses different words to emphasize the surpassing greatness of Christ’s power toward us who believe, which are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which was occasional in Christ when rose from the dead and was seated at God’s right hand in the heavenly places. Such is the strength and power available to us as we walk with Jesus daily. He strengthens us with power through His Spirit in our inner man.
The appearance of a believer does not matter in life’s battle. He may be as skinny as David before the devil’s wildest Goliath, but his strength comes from the Lord. It does not matter how weakened we feel by the challenges of life, or by the extent of our enemies’ damage, we are strong and able to stand. When David and his men found their city burned with fire and their wives, children, and possessions were taken captive by the Amalekites, the great hinge that turned things in a new direction was the strength David found in the Lord his God. That same strength is available to every believer in Christ regardless of being at life’s highest or lowest point. We can stand despite any discouragement. We can stand and withstand the devil’s fiercest opposition. Even when God’s promises seem untrue, and everything seems against us, yet we can “be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.”
Quote for the Day: “Our strength in Christ sprints from our realization of His continued presence with, love of, and help for, us in spite of our weakness.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me strength when I am weak, love when I feel forsaken, courage when I am afraid, wisdom when I feel foolish, comfort when I am alone, hope when I feel rejected, and peace when I am in turmoil — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayers,
