Step Forward in Faith

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Sunday, December 28, 2025

Joshua 3:1–8 (ESV)

Key Verse: Joshua 3:5 (ESV) — “Then Joshua said to the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.’”

Yesterday we dealt with preparation. And since nobody dwells on preparation, today, we step forward into positioning. After Israel fastened belts and packed for departure, they came face to face with the Jordan River — that line between what was and what would be. Readiness alone was not enough; they had to step forward in faith. God always calls His people to act on what they’ve prepared. Faith is the bridge between revelation and realization. Standing on the brink of a new year, you may feel like Israel camped beside the Jordan — ready, but uncertain how the waters will part. Yet this is the hour where God turns preparation into participation. The miracle does not begin until your foot touches the water (Joshua 3:15). The new year won’t open by mere longing; it unfolds through believing obedience. This is your moment to step forward in faith.

Faith does not wait for perfect clarity. It moves on divine certainty. God said to Joshua, *“As I was with Moses, so I will be with you.”* The same God who parted the Red Sea is still faithful to part your Jordans. When God invites you to move, you do not calculate possibilities — you trust His presence. For the path you’re about to walk doesn’t exist until you walk it. Step forward in faith through obedience. Joshua did not improvise; he followed divine instruction. Every detail — the priests, the Ark, the distance, the timing — revealed that bold faith still honors careful obedience. In this final stretch of the year, do not let zeal replace listening. Move only as He directs. When your motion matches His instruction, miracles manifest naturally.

Step forward in faith through focus. The Ark of the Covenant went ahead of the people as a symbol of divine direction. Keep your eyes on His presence, not the flood before you. When the current feels strong, fix your gaze where grace is leading. Whatever gripped you last year belongs behind you. Forward focus fuels forward faith. Step forward in faith through expectation. Joshua’s final charge was not a suggestion but a sure prophecy: “Tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” The language of faith speaks in anticipation, not hesitation. Begin to declare, “Tomorrow belongs to God, and He will do wonders.” Expect doors that no man can shut. Expect joy where sorrow once stood. Expect the river to part because grace still moves ahead of you.

To step forward in faith is to exit the old with trust and enter the new with testimony. Heaven is inviting you beyond preparation into participation. You spent the year getting your heart ready — now get your feet moving. Let tomorrow’s wonders find you walking, not waiting. When you step out, you send this message to every unseen realm: “I may not see the full path, but I trust the faithful Planner.”

Action Steps: Today, declare your Jordan moment. Identify one area where God is calling you to move forward — a decision, a step, a surrender. Commit that step to prayer and act on it this week. Spend time thanking God for how far He’s brought you and trusting Him for what’s next. Write your faith statements for the new year — not wishes, but declarations grounded in revelation. Step forward in faith, knowing that tomorrow will unveil His wonders.

Quote for the Day: “Waters in life never part for those who stare at them; they part for those who step into them.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for the grace that prepared me all year long. Now, empower me to step forward in faith into what You have prepared. As I face the unknown, remind me that Your presence goes before me. Teach me to trust beyond the visible, obey without hesitation, and expect Your wonders with bold assurance. May the coming year be the crossing of my Jordan — from promise spoken to promise seen. In Your faithful name, Lord Jesus, Amen.
