Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, September 4,
Today’s Text: Genesis 28:10-22
Key Verse: Genesis 28:16 (NLT): “Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!”

One of my spiritual daughters call me up sometimes during the week recounting how pressed to the wall she was feeling; and how she had raised some questions about whatever God was doing in her spirit. Well, except the self righteous folks, we have all been at that juncture one time or the other. We all wonder why there is pain, poverty evil in the world. We Even more unasked questions than unresolved ones in our spirits; but if we are sensitive enough in the midst of are profound questions and frustrations, we can see that God always shows up to provide some kind answers. God’s love always reaches out to us to assure us of His everlasting covenant and love. The story of Jacob is a testimony to this fact.
God is in the darkness of the storm as much as He is in the brightness of a sunny day. Most times, He is with us though we cannot see Him. Jacob was at the place of covenant—the same place where Abraham established a covenant with God. God probably was looking for a personal relationship with Him. Often, our gloomy night is so that we may see God in the midst of our perplexity and shape a personal relationship with Him. Regardless of our ancestral spiritual connection or covenant with God, each person must encounter the Lord, and walk with Him whether our morning is filled with sunshine or our midnight is troubled and gloomy. Jacob was not going through the best of times. He was on the run for his dear life, and uncertainty loomed on his head, but the situation availed him his greatest opportunity to experience God. Whether good or bad, every moment of life can lead sincere seekers to a moment of deeper connection with God. Don’t let that situation crush you, open your eyes and you will see that God has always been there for you — only you did not see Him.
Quote for the Day: “When we go through dark moment and we can’t feel it God. It is not because that darkness covers or hides God, but it is because we don’t have the light to see through.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please open my eyes to see you when darkness seems t block my view. Let Your hidden presence become manifest and comfort me with Your word — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
I wish you a fabulous Sunday with all my Love and Prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
